Interim Studies

Pick-Your-Own Adventure

At Brewster, we place high value on experiential learning, so at the end of the Winter Trimester, the school shifts gears into the 10-day Interim Studies period. Faculty create hands-on learning Interim Studies experiences that dovetail with their own passions, and students get to choose which ones they want to try. Recent offerings include the Art of Comics, Expressions through Dance, Baseball and Broadcasting in Fort Meyers, Florida, and Outward Bound School at Joshua Tree National Park. Oh, but that is not all! Brewster students could also choose to take a lifeguard certification class, explore digital photography, design an escape room, travel to Arizona to study politics at the border, find their zen place in a mindfulness retreat, or go on a winter mountain climbing excursion…and about a dozen more options!

WE PREPARE DIVERSE THINKERS FOR LIVES OF PURPOSE

Spotlight: Baseball and Broadcasting

Faculty member TJ Palmer brought a group of 11 boys to Fort Myers, Florida for an Interim Studies program focused on understanding the world of broadcasting and pre-season MLB. They met Brewster alumnus Rob Bradford ’88 from WEEI Radio and were invited into the broadcasting booth, produced daily podcasts, and enjoyed some friendly and creative competition among their groups. Listen to the boys reflecting on their experience with Mr. Palmer.
